Over the past decade Springboard has awarded over half a million dollars to aspiring entrepreneurs and served as a way to connect, train and encourage regional startups.

Competition tracks open in September with final prize money being awarded in late spring. Choose your track below.

Community Tracks

Springboard has a history of helping community entrepreneurs take the next step in launching their company. This year entrepreneurs establishing their young companies in the Big Country will compete for funding across three different sub-tracks: BE in Abilene, New Ideas and Small Business.

BE in Abilene

The flagship track with $250,000 in funding is for young, entrepreneurial companies who will be based in Abilene and have the potential to positively impact the local economy.

Winning teams:

3 to 5

Individual team awards:

$25,000 - $100,000

Company locations:

Anywhere in US (must relocate to Abilene for funding)

Company age:

5 years or less

Geographic focus:

Projected that more than 51% of revenue comes from outside Abilene within 3 years

New Ideas

A track targeting aspiring entrepreneurs across the Big Country who are in the earliest stages of their startup or simply have a great idea for a new business.

Total funding:

$20,000

Winning teams:

3

Individual team awards:

1st - $15,000 2nd & 3rd - $2,500

Company locations:

Big Country (see details for 19 approved counties)

Company age:

1 year or less

Geographic focus:

Projected that concept will scale beyond Big Country

Small Business

A track targeting aspiring entrepreneurs whose business may not have significant growth potential outside of the Big Country but still can be a successful business serving the local community.

Acu Track Icon

ACU Track

The ACU Track is aimed at supporting undergraduate students as they set up their first company. $10k funding. Open to all ACU students.

High School Track Icon

High School Track

High school students from across the Big Country will compete for $10,000 in scholarships as they go through the experience of starting a new company.

Organized by Griggs Center

The Griggs Center for Entrepreneurship and Philanthropy at Abilene Christian University is focused on developing an entrepreneurial and giving spirit throughout the ACU community, including the Abilene area.  The center was launched in 2011 and has received national awards for its student programs and engagement on ACU’s campus.

Through Springboard and other efforts, the center has also partnered with various organizations to promote, connect and equip the regional entrepreneurship community.
